The Criminal Investigations Section conducts overt investigations into criminal occurrences. This section is comprised of the Investigations Unit and the Juvenile Unit. The Investigations Unit focuses on crimes involving adult perpetrators while the Juvenile Unit is responsible for crimes involving juvenile perpetrators or victims.

The Criminal Investigations Section aids and assists the City Attorney, the Oakland County Prosecutor’s Office or other prosecuting agencies in case preparation and prosecution. The Section acts as a support unit to all other divisions, sections, units and community policing efforts within the Troy Police Department.
