The Special Investigations Unit conducts undercover investigations into criminal matters. 

Special Investigations Unit relies on information obtained from a variety of sources, including anonymous tips and confidential informants.

The goal of the unit is to develop sufficient evidence to proceed with a prosecution against criminal offenders that have victimized our community and eluded conventional police efforts to apprehend them.  Special Investigations acts as a support unit to all other divisions, sections, units and community policing efforts within the Troy Police Department.

The Special Investigations Unit is supervised by the Investiative Services Division Lieutenant.
