Education:

• 1975 graduate of Wayne State University with a B.S. degree in secondary education
• 1991 graduate of the Northwestern University School of Police Staff and Command
• 2002 graduate of Eastern Michigan University M.L.S. degree

Police Career:

• 1977 graduate of the Oakland Police Academy
• 1977 - 1980 Police Officer, Clawson Police Department
• 1980 - Joined the Troy Police Department where he served as a patrol officer and detective, promoted to sergeant in 1986 and served as patrol sergeant, sergeant in charge of the Criminal Information Unit, promoted to Lieutenant in 1988 and commanded the Special Operations Section, patrol shifts, and the Staff Inspections Section, promoted to Captain in 1992 and commanded the Patrol and Investigations Divisions
• 1985 - Police Officer of the Year, as a result of the resolution of numerous breaking & entering cases which resulted in multiple arrests and the recovery of stolen property
• 1998 appointed as Chief of Police
• February 27th, 2009, retired as the 5th Chief of the Troy Police Department .
