Directed Patrol Unit

The Directed Patrol Unit was established to provide a concentrated force of highly trained and motivated officers to respond to specific problems occurring within the City of Troy, particularly problems that exhibit a discernible trend or pattern.  The Directed Patrol Unit operates within the Special Operations Section of the Road Patrol Division of the Troy Police Department.

The Directed Patrol Unit is also responsible for conducting liquor compliance checks, using Student Enforcement Aides, of all establishments within the City of Troy that hold a liquor license.

The Directed Patrol Unit uses its special skills and training to assist in providing security details for visiting dignitaries, large events, and other events or activities that may have a potential for attracting unruly behavior.

The Directed Patrol Unit is supervised by Sgt. John Schaufler
