The Troy Police Beaver was created as part of the Beaver Tales fundraising project celebrating the City of Troy's 50th Anniversary in 2005. Thirty-five of the flat tailed big
beavers enhanced our community's landscape throughout 2005. Each creative critter was decorated by a talented Michigan artist, sponsored by donors from the Troy community, and auctioned off at a "tales-optional" gala to benefit local community building agencies.

Proceeds from Beaver Tales Community Art Project were shared equally by:
-
Preserving community heritage for today and future generations
-
Improving the quality of life for those who live and work in Troy by providing an alcohol and drug free environment
-
Providing financial support for outstanding organizations and projects that benefit the City
The Troy Police Beaver stands watch over the lobby of the Troy Police Department Headquarters, located at 500 West Big Beaver Road in the Civic Center complex. Beavers representing various other city departments adorn City Hall and other City of Troy buildings, as well. Each of these statues was purchased by a member of the community (individual or business) and donated to the city so that all could enjoy them for years to come.
