The Troy Police Records Section is a complex system, maintaining and controlling records generated by the Department in the normal course of its operation.
Management involves the collection, recording, reporting, release, storage and disposal of records in accordance with Michigan Historical Commission Rules, State of Michigan reporting requirements, court orders, subpoenas, Freedom of Information Act Requests, and federal, state and local laws.

Based on a strong customer service orientation, five Police Records Clerks and one Police Records Supervisor protect the integrity of the Police Department Record keeping system which generates upwards of 45,000 reports yearly.
The Records Section rapidly and accurately:

-
completes records checks and fingerprint cards for citizens
-
maintains the current Sex Offender Registration file and listing
-
facilitates the purchase and safety inspections of all citizen firearms
-
processes applicants for seven other permits required to do business within the city limits
The Troy Police Records Section is committed to serving the needs of its employees and the community.
