Special Response Unit

The Special Response Unit is a regional team consisting of firefighters and police officers from the Troy Police and Fire Departments, Bloomfield Hills Department of Public Safety, Clawson Fire Department, Franklin Fire Department, Beverly Hills Department of Public Safety, Huntington Woods Department of Public Safety, Berkley Department of Public Safety and  Oak Park Department of Public Safety. 

Special Response Unit members are trained and equipped to respond to and manage hazardous materials incidents, advanced rescue operations, large and specialized fire situations such as aircraft accidents, confined space emergencies, and any incident involving acts or suspected acts of terrorism.

The hazardous materials program includes the "Firefighters Right to Know" program which informs firefighters of the hazardous materials usage within the City and coordination of the Special Response Unit (SRU).
