December 28, 2004 Update

Retail Fraud (Shoplifting), Marshall Field's 500 W. 14 Mile Rd. 12/23 6:06 PM.
A black female suspect grabbed an armful of clothing, ran out the doors, and fled in a blue Dodge Neon.


Larceny, Victoria's Secret, 412 W. 14 Mile, 12/24, 7:00 PM.
A 23-year-old woman reported leaving her purse on the counter. When she returned, it was missing. No one turned it in. Her personal identification cards were inside.
Embezzlement, JC Penney, 700 W. 14 Mile, 12/24.
A 38 year old male employee is suspected of stealing three women's leather jackets with a total value of $799.97. Loss Prevention Officers caught him attempting to leave the store with the jackets concealed in his garment bag. He was terminated and prosecution is pending.
Armed Robbery / Car Jacking Arrest, 402 W. 14 Mile, 12/24/04, 8:50 PM.
A 27-year-old male victim was sitting in his 2003 Chevrolet Avalanche in the parking lot north of Chili's on his cell phone. A suspect approached and asked to use his cell phone. The victim refused, but gave suspect 50 cents to use pay phone inside Chili's. The suspect produced a handgun, ordered the victim out of his car and stole his cell phone, money, and vehicle. Madison Heights Police located the suspect vehicle near John R and 13 Mile. The vehicle initially stopped, then fled. It slid on the snow and struck a parked car in the area of Blairmoor and Manchester. The suspect fled on foot, however was located and arrested by a Troy K-9 unit with the assistance of Madison Heights Officers in the backyard of a home. The victim's cell phone, money, and a handgun were recovered. Suspect was arraigned on 12/26. He was charged with Armed Robbery, Carjacking, and Possession of a Firearm in a Felony. He received a $50,000.00 cash bond. He was turned over to Oakland County Jail. He is 21 years old, from Lakewood, Ohio.
Crime Prevention Tip: If you must sit in your vehicle for extended times; keep the windows up and the doors locked. If someone that you do not know approaches, do not open the door or window. If they claim they need help, call the police (9-1-1 works on cellular phones). If they are persistent, or if you are suspicious of them, drive away and call the police.
Retail Fraud, Marshall Fields, 500 W. 14 Mile, 12/26, 2:15 PM.
2 black females and a black male described as being in their 20's set off the alarm as they ran out the doors with stolen merchandise. They dropped 3 coats valued at $140.00 each before entering a gray, 4D, Nissan Altima or Maxima and escaping. Loss Prevention Officers stated suspects were still in possession of other stolen merchandise when they entered the car.
Embezzlement Under $200.00 Arrest, Kids Foot Locker, 412 W. 14 Mile, 12/26 3:54 PM.
17-year-old male cashier was arrested after being observed giving a $105.00 pair of shoes to a 16-year-old female and not ringing them up.
Retail Fraud Arrests, Marshall Field's, 500 W. 14 Mile, 12/26, 11:15 AM.
A 17 and 18 year old female were arrested after stealing $312.00 worth of clothing.
Retail Fraud Arrest, Marshall Field's, 500 W. 14 Mile, 12/26, 2:15 PM.
A 27-year-old female was arrested after stealing $379.00 worth of clothing.
Uttering and Publishing Arrest (forgery), Oakland Mall, 412 W. 14 Mile, 12/26, 8:30 AM-2:00 PM.
A 20-year-old female was arrested after passing $1450.00 worth of counterfeit Oakland Mall gift certificates at various stores in the mall. An additional $650.00 worth of counterfeit Oakland Mall certificates were recovered from the suspect. She told officers she purchased them from an unknown male in the parking lot.
