Unsolved Crimes

December 28, 2004 Update

Suspicious Incident/Lost Property, 2075 W Big Beaver, Nieman Marcus, 12/24, 10:00AM.
A woman reports that her purse, containing an 8-karat diamond bracelet, fell off her coat sash when walking into the store. She advised officers she carried it in her purse because she did not wish to take a chance of it falling off her wrist. There were some inconsistencies in her account.

Drove While License Suspended Arrest/Pedestrian Injury Crash, Somerset Mall, 2801 W. Big Beaver, 12/24, 3:55 pm.
A 35-year-old female pedestrian was struck by a 2003 GMC Sierra pick-up as she walked in the lot. She was found partially under the truck. She was transported to Royal Oak Beaumont Hospital with what appear to be non-life threatening injuries. The 21-year-old male driver was arrested for driving on a suspended drivers license. He had 14 current points on his record.

Safety Tip: Parking lots can be just as dangerous as streets, and even more so. Drivers may be distracted looking for open spaces and not see you. Pay close attention to all directions of traffic, and be prepared to move out of the way. Drivers, watch out for pedestrians and other cars backing out of spaces. It is difficult to remove all of the snow from parking lots, so they may be more slippery than the roads.
