August 26, 2005 Update

Crooks and Kirts, 8/15, 3:04 am.
Officers responded to report that a 93 Honda had just crashed into a parked car in an apartment complex parking lot, and the driver walked away, on foot.  Officers found the 32-year-old male driver from Auburn Hills walking in an adjacent complex.  He admitted crashing his car, and explained he was walking to a friends house to get some sleep.  He failed sobriety tests, was arrested, and blew .16% on a breath test.

Troy Beaumont, 44201 Dequindre,  8/14, 11:22 pm.
Officers responded to a call from a mother regarding her 17-year-old son.  She stated she received a call from a subject advising her that her son was seen loading alcohol into a vehicle at a Farmer Jacks in Sterling Heights.  She tracked her son down and directed him to meet her at the hospital so he could be tested for consumption.  Upon arrival, she discovered alcohol in his trunk.  He told her he had sipped some.  Officers tested him; he did not register a blood alcohol level on the PBT.  He admitted stealing the alcohol.  53 bottles of beer, malt beverages, hard-lemonades, and berry-coolers, as well as a fifth of Vodka were recovered from his vehicle.  He was cited for Minor in Possession. Possible larceny charges are also pending.
Cambridge Crescent, 8/12, 9:00 pm 9:10 pm.
Two calls were received regarding occupants of a blue 2003 Chevy Cavalier entering garages.  Officers checked area with negative results, then proceeded to the address of the registered owners in Troy.  Owners called their 16-year-old son home via cell phone. Upon his return, after initially denying any involvement, he explained that he stopped in front of an unknown address and his 16-year-old male passenger, also from Troy, exited the car and entered an open garage.  He claimed his friend returned empty handed.  There was no sign that he had been drinking, so officers left him with his parents and proceeded to the home of his passenger.  The passenger stated he and the driver had checked several houses in the subdivision.  He stated his friend drove, while he exited and checked the garages using his cell phone to provide light.  He stated he located a case of beer in an open garage at an unknown address, stole it, and returned to the car.  They proceeded to Coral Street Park where they met two other friends.  He stated he had just finished a beer, when the drivers parents called and he figured they were caught, so he dumped the remaining beer at the end of an unknown street and returned home.  He blew a .027 on a PBT and was cited for Minor Consuming.  Officers re-contacted the drivers parents and filled them in on the rest of the story.  Possible larceny charges are forthcoming.
(Note: the Oakland County Prosecutors Office has, in similar cases, issued charges of Felony Home Invasion against teenagers caught stealing beer from garages.  Felony Home invasion means entering an occupied dwelling for the purpose of committing a larceny or other crime therein.  Felony Home Invasion is punishable by 5 to 15 years in prison and /or a fine of $2000 - $3000.  If the teens are aged 17 or older, they are considered an adult for criminal prosecution.)
Long Lake, 8/13, 12:14 am.
Officers responded to information that there were minors consuming alcohol at a location.  Upon arrival, officers located a 17-year-old male from Troy and his 15-year-old female friend, also from Troy.  The male explained the residents were out of town, and his friend who lived there left a camping trailer open and gave him permission to use it while they were gone.  Officers discovered an open bottle of Vodka inside. The female blew a .059% on a PBT and a petition was filed against her for Minor in Possession of alcohol; the male admitted drinking earlier in the day.  He registered .00 on a PBT.  Both were turned over to their respective parents/guardians.  Investigation continues into possible illegal entry.
