August 26, 2005 Update
Gate and Wattles, 8/15, 6:30 pm.
A citizen reported that he found a 4 year old male walking down Wattles near Gate pushing a toy lawnmower. The citizen stated that he stood by with the child for approximately 15-20 minutes, when a female drove up, picked up the child, and left without leaving any information. He obtained the license plate, which came back to an address on Fairfax, a couple of streets away. Officers responded there and found a visibly upset grandmother outside looking for the child. The mother returned with the child shortly thereafter. The grandmother explained she was outside watching the child who was playing in the garage. She went inside to speak with the childs mother and when she returned could not locate the child. An uncle was also present; he explained both women originally thought the child had gone inside with him. All were visibly upset over the incident.

A resident reported discovering a 2-year-old male outside her home, near the fire hydrant. When officers arrived, the resident reported that she had the child in her custody for approximately 15 minutes. The childs mother arrived on the scene about the same time as officers. She explained her father had dropped her son and her aunt off at their home, which was on the same street, then went to run an errand. She and her mother arrived home shortly thereafter. Her father returned from the errand just after they arrived. They could not locate her son, and immediately started searching when they saw the officers outside with the youth. The child apparently managed to get out of the house without the aunt noticing. He was unharmed.
