December 16, 2005 Update
S/B I-74 near 14 Mile, 12/10, 10:45 p.m.
Cell phone caller reported '04 Mercury Mountaineer all over the roadway. Officers located it, and observed it swerving between lanes. Officers activated emergency lights to initiate a stop near Maple. Driver continued driving, signaled to exit at 14 Mile, then veered back onto I-75 where he eventually stopped on the 14 Mile overpass. The 37-year-old male driver from Madison Hgts. stated he had one martini. He failed sobriety tests and was arrested. He blew .32 on a breath test.
Drexel and Seymour, 12/11, 12:25 a.m.
Complainant reported observing '98 Chevy Blazer doing lawn jobs in the neighborhood. Responding officers located it and stopped it. The 19-year-old male driver from Troy claimed he had accidentally gone off road onto a lawn. He denied consuming alcohol in spite of officer noting the odor of intoxicants on his breath/person. He failed sobriety tests and refused to take a PBT. He was arrested for drunk Driving. He blew .17 on a breath test. During booking, a fake ID was located in his wallet making him 21 years old. His passengers, a 17-year-old male and 16-year-old female, both from Troy, blew .13 and .12 respectively on PBT's. The 17 year old was cited for MIP and TOT his father. The 16 year old was petitioned to juvenile court and TOT her mother. One of the passengers admitted they were doing lawn jobs; at least 2-3. Tracks in the snow were located, however it appeared there was no permanent damage done to the lawns.
Rochester near Big Beaver, 12/11, 8:49 p.m.
Cell phone callers reported a '99 Mercedes that was driving erratically had spun out and struck the guardrail on N/B I-75 north of 14 Mile. The Mercedes reportedly continued N/B after the impact, and then exited on Rochester Rd. Officer located the Mercedes N/B on Rochester near Big Beaver. The vehicle had damage to the drivers side front and rear. The 35-year-old male driver from Detroit stated he had consumed some shots of tequila and four beers. He failed sobriety tests and was arrested. He blew .10 on a breath test.
South Boulevard and Killarney, 12/12, 7:48 p.m.
Cell phone caller reported a '97 Dodge Ram P/U that was N/B on I-75 had struck the median wall on the freeway several times in the area of 14 Mile. The original complainant lost sight of it near Big Beaver. A short time later, a second caller reported the same vehicle driving erratically on N/B Crooks near Square Lake. It reportedly turned west on South Bvd. Officers located it traveling W/B in the E/B lanes of South Blvd. just west of Crooks. Officers activated emergency lights, however the vehicle continued driving. At one point it veered heavily into the E/B lanes of traffic. Three police cars positioned themselves around the suspect vehicle, guiding it to a stop. Upon approach, the 49-year-old male driver from Center Line appeared in a daze. When directed to place the car in park, he put it in a higher gear. Officers placed the car in park and shut it off. The driver was too intoxicated to stand and fell to the ground. He could barely speak. He could not perform sobriety tests and was arrested. He blew .21 on a breath test. He also had Xanex pills in his possession w/out a prescription.
S/B I-75 S/O Adams, 12/14, 1:47 a.m.
Cell phone caller reported '06 Chrysler Sebring swerving between the lanes. Officer located it, made similar observations, and stopped it after it exited the freeway at Big Beaver. The 20-year-old male driver from Sterling Heights failed sobriety tests and was arrested. He blew .13 on a breath test.
