May 13, 2005 Update

550 Stephenson, 5/2, 1:30 p.m.- 4:30 p.m.
Complainant reported finding the drivers side front and rear tires had the air let out of them. She stated a similar incident involving all 4 tires occurred in Clawson a month ago.


Dequindre, 5/6, 4:54 p.m. 5:56 p.m.
Elderly complainant reported someone posing as an employee of the Water Department approached her and advised he needed to shut off the water for 10 minutes and he had a refund check for $46.00 for her. When she advised him she was calling police to check on his legitimacy, he told her he needed to get some parts from his truck. When she looked outside, he was gone. He is described as a W/M, 58, brown hair, thin build. She stated she was aware of such scams targeting the elderly, therefore called police.
Modernistic, 1460 Rankin, 5/8, 2:50 p.m.
Officer noticed 86 GMC van enter lot of closed business and drive behind building. It parked near a storage shed and dumpster. The driver exited and began examining some tires in the lot. Officer approached and spoke to driver, a 57 year old male from Clyde, Michigan who stated he was a scrapper and looking for discarded articles. He had some items in the vehicle, which appeared to be discarded from other sites. He is on parole for larceny. He had alcohol in the vehicle, which is a violation of probation. His Probation Officer was provided a copy of the incident. He was ticketed for driving on an expired license and released.
Costello Elementary School, 1333 Hamman, 5/10, 4:45 p.m.
Complainant advised while picking up her child from after-school activity, a young male, approximately 20, who was driving a blue Ford Crown Victoria, asked her several questions, one of which was whether or not she was a mom. When she said yes, he replied she looked pretty good for a mom, and wished her happy Mothers Day, before departing. The vehicle registers out of Macomb County.
