November 11, 2005 Update
Fairways near Rochester, 11/5, 2:36 a.m.
Officers dispatched on report of '04 Ford P/U on the roadway with the engine running, but not moving for over an hour. Officers discovered 31-year-old male from Birmingham passed out inside. After considerable efforts to arouse him, he responded, but could not get the door open. The officer opened the door and had him exit. Suspect had difficulty keeping his balance, holding onto the side of his vehicle to prevent himself from falling as he walked. He did not know what city he was in or where he was. When asked for his license, he provided a credit card. He smelled strongly of intoxicants. He could not recite the alphabet, then refused to participate in any additional sobriety tests, including taking a PBT. He was arrested for Drunk Driving. He blew .21 on a breath test.
N/B I-75 near Livernois, 11/6, 8:10 p.m.
Officers responded to report from cell phone caller that a '96 Ford Thunderbird that had been driving erratically, lost control, crashed into the guardrail, spun out, and was trying to flee the scene of the crash. The vehicle exited the freeway at Big Beaver. Officers located it as it pulled into a nearby parking lot. It had significant damage along the driver's side, a flat front passenger side tire, and the airbags had deployed. The 23-year-old male driver from Troy stumbled and lost his balance as he exited. He smelled strongly of intoxicants. He failed sobriety tests. He was arrested for Fleeing the Scene of a Crash and Drunk Driving. He blew .18 on a breath test. He sustained minor injuries in the crash. His 34-year-old male passenger from Clarkston sustained no injuries. He was released.
