American Eagle, 612 W. 14 Mile, 10/28 - 11/3
LPO's discovered the 23-year-old male assistant manager from Warren was conducting fraudulent returns by using customer names from a rewards program to generate the transactions. He had access to the registers to conduct transactions. No customers were compromised in the activities, as he was only using their names to make it appear the transactions were for legitimate customers. Total suspected of being embezzled is $3,385.22. Suspect admitted actions and was terminated. Prosecution pending.
Marshall Fields, 500 W. 14 Mile, 9/21 - 11/7
LPO's reported female employee from Troy withdrew and stole $400.00 from various registers. When confronted, suspect also admitted to ringing fraudulent refunds to herself, as well as taking unpaid merchandise to her sister to ring up as a return for herself. Total amount of these transactions: $600.00. She was terminated; prosecution is pending.
Marshall Field's, 2750 W. Big Beaver, 9/22 - 11/5
LPO's reported 23-year-old female employee from Detroit placed three boxes of shoes with a total value of $319.00 into a shopping bag then placed it in package pick-up. She placed a package pick-up tag on the bag. She tried to claim and remove the merchandise at the end of her shift, however it wasn't released to her because she had no receipt. Additional investigation revealed she was involved in fraudulent refunds totaling approximately $620.00. She was terminated; prosecution is pending.
Marshall Fields, 2750 W. Big Beaver, 9/24
LPO reported suspect who provided a check and ID in the name of a 25-year-old female from Fenton made a $3,647.40 check purchase using an account that did not have sufficient funds. The suspect did not respond to contact attempts to make it good. On 10/25 a male from Royal Oak made a cash refund on a $398.00 jacket from the above purchase. When he tried another refund on 10/26 for a $427.18 item from the above purchase, the cash refund was denied.
