November 11, 2005 Update

Larchwood, 9/13
Complainant reported attending an eviction hearing wherein court ordered tenant to surrender the keys to the residence in question. When complainant returned to the residence, he discovered the appliances missing.


Collins Aikman, 250 Stephenson, 10/31 - 11/1, 4:15p.m. - 8:00 a.m.
Two lap tops stolen from office cubicles.
REI, 766 E. Big Beaver, 11/1, 12:16 p.m.
Complainant reported suspect stole a merchandise cart from rear of business. He was last seen loading it into a light blue '89 Dodge mini-van missing the passenger side mirror that registers to a 54 year old male from Troy. Suspect: W/M, late 40's, grey hair, wearing a ball cap.
Clark Gas, 1602 Livernois, 10/31, 12:33 p.m. Complainant reported driver of a newer black vehicle drove off without paying for $10.00 worth of gas. He is described as a B/M, 5'11".
Raybestos Automotive, 850 Stephenson, 11/2 - 11/3, 6:00 p.m. - 6:00 a.m.
A laptop was stolen from locked office. No sign of force.
Cooldige, 11/3, 4:30 p.m.
Tree trimmer left in front of property for 20 minutes was stolen.
Marshall Fields, 500 w. 14 Mile, 11/4, 7:00 p.m.
A 17 year old female reported while she and her boyfriend were shopping, they were approached by a male that represented he was from South Africa and would give each of them $50.00 if they'd help him find a cab and hotel. He claimed a cab driver had just over-charged him $300.00 for a ride. The cab was supposed to drop him at a hotel, but dropped him at the mall instead. He showed them a letter from an attorney that indicated he was in the U.S. for some sort of litigation. He showed them a wad of money, which he claimed contained $10,000.00 and asked them to hold it while he picked up his luggage from the train station, because someone had tried to rob him earlier there. He advised them to wrap their money around his, so if something happened to his money, it would happen to theirs, as well. They gave him $30.00. He wrapped it around his, and then placed the wad in a bandana, which he returned to them to hold. When he never returned, they inspected the bandana and found nothing but cut up newspaper inside. Only description is a B/M.
Lorenzo, 11/3 - 11/4, 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 a.m.
$3,500.00 worth of scaffolding stolen from flat bed storage trailer. The chain that was used to secure it was cut. The wheels were stolen from a portable cement mixer. It appears after they were removed from the smaller mixer, they were attached to a larger/portable mixer, also on the site, allowing the suspects to steal it.
Harrington, 10/8 - 11/2
A 73-year-old female complainant from Troy reported discovering a necklace and two rings missing from her dresser. Total value: $20,500.00 No evidence of forced/unlawful entry into the residence. She reports family members are only ones who have access to the residence other than her.
Charrington, 10/29 - 11/4
Complainant reported allowing family members to reside with them who were suffering economic hardship. A digital camera and several items of jewelry were discovered missing from bedrooms. When complainants confronted subjects, they became defensive, immediately packed up their belongings and left. Unknown where they are currently staying.
Detroit Engineering, 560 Kirts, 11/8 - 11/9, 8:00 p.m. - 7:59 a.m.
Laptop stolen from desk; no sign of forced entry into office.
Canterbury Square Apartments, Lovington and John R, 11/10, 12:42 p.m.
A 28 year old female complainant from Troy reported she was approached by a male who represented he was a private contractor from Dish Network. He pointed out 4 satellite dishes and advised he was on site at the request of management to consolidate all the dishes into one unit. He took hers, connected the wires from her dish to her neighbor's and departed. Management advised no such arrangement had been made. The dish is valued at $300.00 Suspect description: W/M, 5'9", medium build, light brown short hair, wearing a red and black jacket and blue jeans. Suspect Vehicle: Older model red Jeep Grand Cherokee.
