October 5, 2005 Update

S/B I-75 near Big Beaver, 10/31, 0052 hrs.
Cell phone caller reported '03 Cadillac Escalade driving 40 mph in the left lane.  Officers responding to the area located it stuck in the ditch on the median side with the driver trying to drive it out.  The 35-year-old male from Belleville stated he was trying to get home from a bar in Detroit.  He claimed an unknown vehicle cut him off, forcing him into the ditch.  He failed sobriety tests, was arrested, and blew a .18 on a breath test.  He has five prior drunk driving related convictions w/in the last ten years, so was charged with Felony Drunk Driving.  


N/B I-75 near Coolidge, 9/30, 2359 hrs.
Officers responded to cell phone caller reporting '96 Plymouth Neon driving erratically.  Upon locating it, officer observed it swerving between lanes.  It left the roadway on the median side at one point.  When the officer activated her emergency equipment to stop it, it lost control and struck the median guardrail, spun out, and came to rest in the median side ditch.  The 26-year-old male driver from Detroit claimed he was trying to get home from Flat Rock.  He claimed he had only drunk 2 beers.  He failed sobriety tests, was arrested, and blew .21 on a breath test.
