Complainant reported receiving a call from an unknown male inquiring if she knew that another individual had the same social security number as she did. He represented he has had trouble locating her, and knew her name. After further inquiries on his part, she hung up. She was advised to contact credit bureaus and review accounts, as this may have been a fraud attempt.
Troy People Concerned, 930 John R, 10/6, 1130 hrs.
Agency is a non-profit service organization that offers help to people in need. Two females arrived at the office. One claimed to be a relocated hurricane Katrina victim seeking assistance. The subject claimed she had just enrolled her child in Troy Schools, provided the child's name and the name of a counselor. She claimed the counselor referred her to the organization for help. Her associate claimed she was temporarily housing her. When a photo ID and FEMA number were requested, the associate became belligerent. When the associate was asked for ID, she refused. They both eventually left. A follow-up call to the school district revealed no counselor employed and no child enrolled by the names provided.
E/B Big Beaver between Rochester and John R, 10/11, 1700 hrs.
Complainant reported occupant of a Chevy S-10 P/U pointed what she believed was a toy gun at her while she was trying to merge into their lane. She described the truck as occupied by two young males, a white "low ride" type truck, with dark tinted windows, and a cutout of a naked female on the back window.
