October 14, 2005 Update
Comerica Bank, 1494 John R, 10/5, 1543 hrs.
Bank Manager called to report an 83-year-old male trying to withdraw almost $10,000.00 from his account. He told her an unknown female, whom he feared might be trying to steal it from him, drove him to the bank. There was no one located in the lot. The subject was disoriented. Officers were at first unable to locate any relatives. Adult Protective Services was contacted and advised to transport him to Royal Oak Beaumont where a caseworker would assist. A sister was eventually contacted; who explained her brother suffers from dementia. She stated he lives in a motel in Detroit. When she went to check on him today, she was advised he checked out and was last seen walking away on foot.
Troy Career Center, 550 Stephenson, 10/7, 1115 hrs.
Company rep. reported 49-year-old female had fallen asleep in front of job-search computer and was concerned about her welfare. Officers determined she was not in need of assistance, had means to care for herself, and was fully aware of her surroundings. Officers transported her to the bus terminal, upon her request.
Troy Officers responded to seven involving individuals experiencing emotional/psychological difficulties and assisted w/transport to the hospital for evaluation/commitment.
