LPO reported receiving notice from the check approval service regarding a fraudulent check being passed at one of the registers for a $159.00 leather coat. LPO contacted the clerk and directed her to obtain identification from the suspect. When asked for identification, the suspect grabbed the check and left the area. Follow-up w/the bank determined the check was forged. Suspect described as a B/F, wearing a brown long sleeved shirt and dark jeans, approximately 5-6, heavy set, with black and blond hair in a ponytail.
