Unsolved Crimes

October 2005

Officers responded to a hang-up 911 call and discovered 6 and 7-year-old girls home alone. They reported hearing a noise and getting scared, so they called 911. They stated they were staying with their aunt who had taken her children to the hospital and told them to stay in the bedroom and watch TV. They couldn't provide any contact information for a parent of guardian; only indicating they lived in Detroit. They were conveyed to the station and a note was left at the residence. A short time later, their 37-year-old aunt from Troy arrived and explained she was watching the girls while their mother moved. She stated she was at a neighbor's house and the girls knew she was in the neighborhood. They were released to her after warning her they were too young to leave home alone. Juvenile Unit to follow-up w/Protective Services.
