Crime Alert for period
ending September, 8 2006 Assaults: Hooters,
1686 John R, 9/4, 2327 hrs. Officers
dispatched to a reported fight in progress between 6 males. Upon arrival,
officers observed one male with another in a headlock. He explained the male he had in a
headlock made statements about having a gun and retrieving it from his
vehicle. Officers checked the
vehicle in question and found no gun.
Investigation indicated the dispute erupted after words were exchanged
between two groups of males, one comprised of four, the other of two,
apparently over comments the group of four were making to a waitress that the
group of two felt were inappropriate.
The situation became physical, however none of those involved wished
to file statements, and the accounts over who initiated the physical contact
were conflicting. One of the
group of four was transported to the hospital with a possible shoulder
injury. The rest agreed to leave, however it appears an argument ensued later
between the two males who were together, as one damaged the other’s car that
was left parked in the lot. That
incident is printed below. Group
of two were both 23 from Novi; group of four: 23, 34, and 45 from Sterling Hgts., 46 from Madison Hgts. Auto/Vehicle Thefts: Dean

result of his tardiness. No
threats have been made. Domestics/Family Troubles: Officers responded to
report that live-in boyfriend assaulted victim after an argument, and then
left the area in his car prior to officers’ arrival. Officers were unable to locate him;
investigation continues. Officers were dispatched
to N/B I-75 near Rochester regarding a fight in progress involving the
occupants of a white car and a red pickup. Upon arrival officers located an 18-year-old male from
Wyandotte and his father in the white car. Investigation revealed the 18 year old, his 32 year old
brother, also from Wyandotte, and his brother’s girlfriend were riding in the
pickup when an argument broke out over money their father had given the older
brother to hold. Apparently the
older brother spent a portion of it and when the younger questioned him about
it, the older became irate, abruptly swerved off the roadway to the shoulder
and assaulted the younger brother.
Their father was following in his car, as they were all going
camping. He stopped when he
observed the pickup swerve off the roadway. The victim walked to his father’s car. The suspect left the scene in the
pickup prior to officers’ arrival; investigation continues. Complainant came to the
station to report her ex-husband head butted her during an argument that

used it to break the rear passenger side window. He then fled on foot. Officers located him still walking in the area. He advised he and the owner of the
vehicle had gotten into an argument prior to his damaging the vehicle. Apparently they had arrived
together. The suspect also
damaged the victim’s digital camera, which was inside the vehicle. Apparently the victim left the area
on foot prior to the incident.

One threatening phone call report taken. Complainant made an
agreement with a local merchant to manufacture items, and provided
approximately $5500.00 as a deposit.
Merchant later contacted complainant and reported the materials
requested for the items had been discontinued. Complainant asked for deposit back. Merchant advised it had already been
spent and requested some time to pay it back. Complainant gave 6 months. When it wasn’t paid back, complainant threatened to report

old, 5-8, bald, wearing a blue T-shirt and blue shorts, riding a gray
10-speed bike. Welfare Checks: Officers responded to a
report of a possible drug overdose and found a 22-year-old male from
Waterford unresponsive behind the wheel of a car parked in a driveway on a
residential street. His 20 year

General If you witness a crime: Ø
get involved Ø
call the police It is
easier to catch a criminal if we are called right away, while they are still
in the area. Suspicious Incidents / people If it appears that someone is up to no-good, they probably are. Call the Police immediately. We are trained to investigate suspicious circumstances and determine if criminal activity is afoot. The best security system that you can have is a “Nosy Neighbor.” Encourage your neighbors to be “Nosy,” especially if there is strange activity around your property. Return the favor by keeping a watchful eye on their property and reporting it immediately. This is the basis for the Neighborhood Watch program. If someone or something seems “suspicious” to you or makes you feel uncomfortable, there is probably good reason for it. Don’t get into the habit of second-guessing your intuition and instinct. Sexual predators
are usually progressive, starting out with public exposure and leading to
more risky and dangerous behaviors. You can check the state of Michigan
registered sex offenders list at www.mipsor.state.mi.us for offenders that live in your
area. Ø
Ø
Do
not leave anything of value in your vehicle in plain view. Ø
Always lock
your vehicle doors. Ø
Never leave
a vehicle unattended while running. Ø
There is a
trend of things being stolen from vehicles in the parking lots of fitness
centers and fun centers. While going to these places, be extra careful to
remove all items of value and secure your vehicle. |
