account opened in his name. One

at a craft fair came back no account. Complainant
reported a $500.00 fraudulent charge against one of his credit accounts for
an on-line purchase of a Play Station game. Delivery was scheduled for an address in
Detroit with which complaint states he is not familiar. Complainant
discovered several counterfeit checks cashed against her account using the
legitimate account’s numbers. A 56-year-old
female from Royal Oak came to the station to report she responded to a letter
she received that advised her she was chosen to be a secret shopper. The letter contained a check for
$4350.00. When she called the number
listed in the letter, a male subject instructed her to deposit the check into
her bank account and send a money gram to a subject in Ohio. She was to evaluate the money gram service
by filling out and returning a survey.
She was apparently authorized to spend $130.00 of the monies at
Wal-Mart and $70.00 at Home Depot. She
deposited the check into her account and reportedly was advised by the teller
the check was good and the funds would be available the next day. The next day she returned to the bank and
was advised the funds were available, so she went to Wal-Mart in Troy and
completed a money gram, which consisted of a direct wire transfer of funds
for $3650.00 as originally directed. During
her next visit to her bank wherein she attempted to make a withdrawal, she was
advised there were insufficient funds in her account because the original
$4350.00 check did not clear. Complainant
reported discovering several unauthorized withdrawals from her bank account. It appears they were made by an on-line bill
paying service with which complainant never signed up. Complainant
discovered several unauthorized withdrawals from her account for cash using
her debit card number. Origin appears
to be out of Bangkok, Thailand. Complainant
reported a family member took, forged and cashed two of her personal checks
for a total of $200.00 Domestics/Family Troubles: Investigators are following up on
one domestic assault report wherein the suspect fled prior to officers’
arrival. Troy Officers responded to three

possession of a small amount of marijuana during the course of a traffic
stop. He was cited and released. Drunk/Intoxicated Driving Incidents
of Interest: S/B I-75

caller reported observing a green ’00 Chevy Malibu spin out and strike the
guardrail on S/B I-75 near Rochester.
After the impact, the vehicle continued eventually exiting at the W/B
14 Mile exit. The original complainant
flagged down a Clawson Officer who was in the area and reported the vehicle
in question was currently in an office building lot at 300 Stephenson. Responding Troy officers located it there with
its lights out. It had heavy front end
damage. The 41-year-old female driver
from Warren was the lone occupant. She
stated she “was not injured.” She
stated she was “coming from a friend’s house in Royal Oak and on her way
home.” She smelled strongly of
intoxicants, but claimed she “only had two cans of beer.” She confirmed she was driving on I-75. She failed sobriety tests and was
arrested. She blew 0.23 on a breath
test. W/B Big
Beaver near Lakeview, 12/1, 2144 hrs. Officers
responded to a report of a possibly intoxicated female who drove from
Somerset Collection South going west in the eastbound lanes of Big Beaver in
a white Jaguar. Officers located it
stuck in the median with tire tracks in the fresh snow leading from Lakeview,
across Big Beaver, over a section of median, across a turn around lane and onto
another section of the median. The 61-year-old
female driver from Troy was the lone occupant. She smelled of intoxicants, however denied
drinking. She was argumentative with officers. Her speech was slurred. She was unsteady on her feet and had trouble
walking. She failed verbal sobriety

explained he and his two passengers were on their way home from a friend’s
house in Sterling Heights. Although a
strong odor of intoxicants was detected coming from inside the car, he denied
drinking. He failed sobriety tests and
was arrested. He blew 0.14 on a breath
test. Three unopened beers were found
under the front passenger seat of the vehicle. Both passengers admitted drinking during
the evening. The 17-year-old male from
Royal Oak blew 0.08 on a PBT and was cited for MIP (Minor in Possession) and
released. The 15-year-old female from
Royal Oak blew 0.07 on a PBT. She was
transported to the station where juvenile petitions were filed against her
for MIP and her mother was summoned to pick her up. Her mother refused to sign the
petition. Her daughter was released to
her custody. Embezzlements: JC

frauds. Three fraudulent transactions
were made for an approximate total of:
$1873.31. Prosecution pending. Macy’s, 2750 W. Big Beaver, 11/28,
1738 hrs. LPO’s learned an 18-year-old female

seen fleeing east across John R. A
responding Troy officer located him walking south on the east side of John R

came into view, the suspect fled on foot.
The officer gave chase, eventually caught up to him, and with the
assistance of other officers arrested him.
The 17-year-old male suspect from Highland Park told officers the
LPO’s accused him of stealing cologne.
He claimed he “saw no price tags on it so thought it was free.” The suspect was wearing a heavy black
winter parka when he was seen fleeing from the store. He apparently ditched that as well as the second
bottle of cologne as he fled. He would
not tell officers where he hid them. Total value of the stolen cologne: $121.00.
A cell phone was found on his person during his booking into the jail. He claimed he found it on the floor in JC

warrants from another jurisdiction for which she was arrested. Neither of her associates, an 18 year old
female from Westland nor the 19 year old male from Pontiac, had valid
driver’s licenses. They were released
at the scene; the vehicle was impounded.

hrs. Manager reported a female subject
who was inside the store had a double handled shopping bag in her
possession. When she left after making
no purchases, the alarm system sounded.
The manager asked her to step back inside. Instead, she began running. The manager contacted security as she
followed the subject. A security
officer located and began following the subject as she ran out of the mall
and down the north parking structure ramp.
As she did, she threw her shopping bag over the railing down onto the
first floor. As she arrived on the
first floor, she picked up the bag and tried to continue, however the
security officer caught up to her and she stopped. She handed over her shopping bag which
contained a Nintendo DS Lite portable video game from the FYE store. She was escorted back to the store where
she told the manager she “took it from behind the cash register.” The 18-year-old female suspect from Shelby
Township told responding Troy officers that she “saw the game behind the
counter, noticed there were no employees around, and decided she really
wanted it.” She stated she “ripped off
what she thought was the security sensor, hid it inside her bag, and left without
paying.” When the alarms went off, she
realized she was in trouble, got scared, and ran. Total stolen/recovered from FYE: $139.99.

into the store, went to the display, removed the security devices from the
mp3 players, and placed them in their purses.
They proceeded to multimedia, where the dictionaries are displayed,
and two of the suspects appeared to be selecting merchandise while the third
looked out. When the first suspect
exited the store, the alarms went off.
By the time employees made their way to the doors, all three were
gone. Total stolen: $339.94.
