with one of the suspects possibly armed with a handgun in his waistband. Troy officers located the ’05 gold Chevy
Malibu N/B on I-75, surrounded it and brought it to a stop. ROPD responded to the scene and took the

near Big Beaver, 10/30, 0800-1000 hrs. Complainant
stated he left his ’07 Harley Night Train motorcycle on the shoulder after it
broke down. When he returned, it was
gone. It was not reported as impounded
when the plate was queried in the computer system. Breaking
and Entries: Rhodes, 10/16-10/17, 2300-0900 hrs. Entry gained into garage by pulling
closed overhead door open and cordless drill stolen. Auburn Pharmaceutical, 1775 John R,
10/31, 0230 hrs. Officers responded to a burglar
alarm. While checking the warehouse,
they observed a male subject in dark clothing running through the upper level
and up and out through a roof hatch. As he did, he dropped a large quantity
of pill bottles containing Alprazolam, which is a generic form of Xanax. Other officers surrounded the building. The suspect was observed running around the
roof trying to find an escape route down, however eventually came to the edge
and requested he be allowed “to surrender.”
Officers proceeded to the roof and took him into custody. He was in possession of a two-way
walkie-talkie. A Madison Hgts. PD K-9
Unit searched the remainder of the roof area and located a second subject
hiding on the north side. He was also
arrested. He was in possession of a
pair of binoculars, gloves, a second two-way walkie-talkie and a cell
phone. While he was being arrested the
cell phone rang and an officer answered it.
The male voice on the other end warned he could see police and
indicated he was hiding in the area.
The area was searched for the third suspect with negative results;
however officers located an unoccupied Chevy van parked in an industrial
subdivision about a block away. It had
an improper license plate affixed.
Paperwork inside indicated it was leased by one of the two arrested
suspects. Arrested were a 28-year-old
male and 23-year-old male, both from Deland, Florida. Access was gained into the building through
the roof hatch. An interior
pharmaceutical storage cage where the targeted drugs were stolen from had
been cut open with a bolt cutter. From the roof, officers recovered a bag
containing several bottles of Alprazolan, several empty bags, an extension
ladder and a rope. Crash
Investigations: S/B I-75 near Maple, 10/19, 1730
hrs. Complainant reported his car was
struck from behind on S/B I-75 near Big Beaver as it slowed in heavy traffic
and the striking vehicle, a blue Ford Taurus fled from the scene. Troy Dispatch received a report from a cell
phone caller indicating the Taurus was in traffic in the left lane on S/B
I-75 near Maple. Troy officers proceeded
to the area, located and stopped it.
The 18-year-old female driver from Detroit admitted being “in the
crash and not stopping.” She had a
temporary instruction permit and had no insurance on the car. She was arrested and charged with “Failing
to Stop and Identify” herself at the crash, violating the temporary driving
permit and no insurance. N/B I-75 and Big Beaver, 1-/26, 1430
hrs. Officers responded to a report that
a blue-green Ford Escort struck a vehicle on N/B I-75 and continued driving
without stopping. Additional calls
were received indicating the Escort struck other vehicles and was still
continuing N/B. The Escort was located
on N/B I-75 near M-59. It had been surrounded and slowed by several citizens
trying to prevent it from hitting any other vehicles. Responding police units arrived and stopped
it. The Escort had heavy front end and
passenger side damage. The female
driver had a blank look on her face and would not respond to officers’
questions, other than to state, “Don’t touch me.” EMS arrived; she did would not respond to
them either. She eventually smiled at
one of the officers who was trying to get her to talk, and stated, “I know
where I’m at.” and “Leave me alone.” One witness stated he was initially
struck by the subject on the freeway in Hazel Park. A second witness stated the subject struck
her once on the Big Beaver overpass, after which she changed lanes to get out
of the subject’s way, however the subject also changed lanes and rammed her
again. Another witness indicated the
subject looked directly at him, smiled, and then steered her Escort right
into the side of his vehicle near Crooks.
Paperwork was located inside the Escort indicating the driver was a
23-year-old female from Detroit. It
also indicated that the subject named thereon was recently released from a
mental health facility. EMS
transported her to the hospital for evaluation and there were no apparent
injuries. A search warrant was
obtained for her blood with toxicology results pending. At the hospital she eventually advised
officers she “recalled crashing into the vehicles.” She stated she “thought they were demons,
so she chased them and crashed into them in an attempt to cast them away.” Credit,
Check, Identity Theft, and other Fraud: Van Courtland, 8/3-10/14 A 28-year-old male and 25-year-old
female from Trenton came to the station to report they left their ’92 Ford
Explorer with a friend who was supposed to make repairs. They called the 26-year-old male from Troy
each week for a progress report and were consistently told he was too busy
and hadn’t got around to making the repairs.
After getting nowhere, they went to his residence to pick it up and
discovered a license plate affixed that wasn’t there when they dropped it
off. When they questioned the subject
he demanded they get off his property and suggested they take him to
court. Apparently they left a copy of
the title and registration in the glove box when they dropped it off. When they took their copy to the Secretary
of State they discovered title had been transferred to the subject’s 49-year-old
father and a license plate issued.
They claim they never sold or transferred ownership of the vehicle to the
subjects involved. A 29-year-old female complainant
from Troy stated she posted her resume on an on-line job service and was
contacted by e-mail from a company out of the UK. They were looking for a
“bookkeeper” who would receive various money orders from outside the U.S.,
deposit them into their own account, keep a 10% commission, and then wire
cash outside the U.S. She apparently
agreed and shortly thereafter received 4 traveler’s checks from Canada for a
total of $950.00, deposited them, kept 10%, and wired the rest in cash
against her account to a person in Saskatchewan, Canada. She then received four Wal-Mart money
orders for a total of $750.00 soon after, but only had enough money to wire
cash for two of them, so did so to the same address. She has since learned from her bank that
the original four checks were counterfeit and her remaining account funds
have been frozen. A 57-year-old female complainant
from Troy reported receiving a phone call from someone representing they were
from an insurance company investigating a claim between her and another
party. She told the caller she was not
a customer of that company and has not been involved in any incidents. The caller advised her if she didn’t
cooperate with their investigation, they’d have her license taken away. As she was trying to confirm her “non-involvement”
she inadvertently confirmed some of her personal information to the
caller. Quickly realizing her mistake,
she contacted her banks and credit companies.
No losses or ID theft as of yet. In addition to the above, nine
credit fraud/identity theft reports were also taken. Domestics/Family
Troubles: Troy Officers responded to six
incidents involving family troubles/domestic disputes where investigation
revealed no assaults or other crimes occurred, therefore no formal
enforcement action was taken. Drugs/Narcotics: Macy’s, 2750 W. Big Beaver, 10/26,
1100 hrs. Complainant found a 1.5 gram baggie
of marijuana in the shoe department. Rite Aide, 2971 W. Maple, 10/29,
2020 hrs. Pharmacist reported a male subject
presented Rx’s for Oxycontin, Ansaid (anti-inflammatory), and Fleseril (muscle relaxer). They were on Rx pads from a medical
facility in Detroit. The Oxycontin Rx
appeared to be photocopied so the pharmacist contacted the issuing physician
who confirmed the Rx’s were counterfeit.
Officers located the suspect walking outside the building and detained
him. When asked what he was doing in
the store, he replied “he was purchasing cigarettes.” He verbally identified himself as a 48-year-old
male from Battle Creek, which was different from the information on the Rx’s
and ID he had presented inside. He
then denied being inside the store, at all.
He was arrested for Rx fraud. Drunk/Intoxicated
Driving Incidents of Interest: Rochester and Long Lake, 10/19, 0211
hrs. Officers responded to a report of a
green Ford Thunderbird standing in the traffic lane at the intersection with
the male driver passed out over the wheel.
Officers located it and could not awaken the driver. Entry was gained by breaking a window as
the doors were locked. That did not
awaken him. They were eventually able
to wake him up. When asked where he
thought he was, the 30-year-old male driver from Detroit responded, “Cedar
Point.” He smelled strongly of
intoxicants, his speech was slurred and he was unsteady on his feet. He failed several sobriety tests and then
refused to participate in any more. He
refused to take a PBT (Preliminary Breath Test), indicating he “didn’t
understand why he was being asked to take one.” He was arrested. He eventually claimed he “drank two beers
at a co-worker’s house after work and he was just trying to get home.” He blew 0.23 on a breath test. Dequindre and Square Lake, 10/21,
0138 hrs. Officers responded to a report of a
grey Chevy Silvarado pickup driving erratically on S/B Dequindre. An officer located and paced it at 85
mph. The officer activated his emergency
equipment, but the car continued driving.
It eventually slowed and stopped after pulling onto Denise in Sterling
Hgts. The 36-year-old male driver from
Sterling Hgts. smelled strongly of intoxicants, had slurred speech and was
unsteady on his feet. He failed
sobriety tests, and refused to take a PBT claiming the “law didn’t require
him to do so.” He was arrested. A baggie containing 1.5 grams of cocaine
was recovered from his pants pocket. He
refused to take a blood test so a search warrant was obtained. Charges pending toxicology results. Big Beaver and Coolidge, 10/20, 0138
hrs. Officer observed a black Ford Ranger
driving without headlights on E/B Big Beaver near Coolidge. The officer pulled behind it and activated
emergency equipment to stop it. The
vehicle slowed, but continued driving, entered a turn around lane from E/B
Big Beaver to W/B Big Beaver just east of Crooks. It pulled onto W/B Big Beaver, stopped
facing north in the right through lane and the driver jumped out and fled on foot. He was last seen behind the plaza on the
N/W corner of the intersection of Crooks and Big Beaver. A Madison Hgts. K-9 Unit responded to the
scene and established a track of the suspect into an apartment complex on the
south side of Big Beaver near Butterfield.
Troy officers checking that area located the suspect running south
through the complex and eventually caught up and took him into custody. The 18-year-old male from Sterling Hgts.
was intoxicated, refused to take a PBT and was arrested. He refused to take a breath test, a search
warrant for his blood was obtained. Toxicology and charges are pending. Embezzlements: JC Penney, 700 W. 14 Mile, 10/17 and
10/18 LPO’s initiated an embezzlement
investigation involving a 20-year-old female cashier from Detroit and a
21-year-old female cashier from Detroit who were involved in shortage ringing
transactions at their respective cash stations. Two other female subjects who are not
employees presented merchandise for purchase.
The sales tags had either been changed to reflect items of lesser
value, or items were rung and then some were deleted resulting in
significantly lesser totals. The
subjects presenting the merchandise would then pay the significantly reduced
amount and then leave with the merchandise.
LPO’s discovered two such transactions involving the 20-year-old
resulting in a total shortage of approximately $650.00. LPO’s discovered one such transaction
involving the 21-year-old wherein the total shortage was $603.56. It appears the two females presenting the
merchandise are associates of the employees.
LPO’s contacted one of them who agreed to bring some of the sold
merchandise back. Prosecution pending. Home

the first floor area of her residence.

with parked cars. Officers estimated
approximately 1000 people in attendance, many of whom appeared

into custody without incident. He was
armed with a loaded .38 caliber pistol at the time of his arrest. He is Tyrone Elando Taylor, 18-years-old,

10/20, 1252 hrs. Complainant reported two males
entered the store asking for change for the air machine. They returned to report it wasn’t working,
so the complainant went outside to assist.
They followed him back inside indicating they wanted to purchase
cigars. As they did, one subject
grabbed him by the neck and started choking him while the other went behind
the counter and grabbed the money from the cash register. The subject who choked the clerk was
wearing a black jacket and black hat. A license plate was obtained from their
green ’95 Nissan which registered to a residence in Detroit. Troy investigators eventually located the
vehicle and stopped it at 15 Mile and Groesbeck in Clinton Twp. The 20-year-old male driver from Detroit
was alone in the car. He turned out to
be the suspect who assaulted the original complainant during the
robbery. He was arrested. $188.00 was recovered from his pants
pocket. Two black jackets were
recovered from the trunk.
Investigators spoke to a clerk at a nearby store who advised the
suspect had just been inside exchanging singles and five dollar bills for
larger denominations. The
investigation continues with regard to the second suspect. He is described as a B/M, approximately
20-years-old, thin build. Speedway Gas Station, 880 East

alarm and were advised by employees that they had been robbed by a B/M,
approximately 40-years-old, 5’10”, unshaven stubble on his face, wearing a
blue knit Detroit Lions hat, and a bright yellow puffy coat. The suspect reportedly approached the
cashier, presented a dime and five pennies, and asked for three nickels. The cashier provided the change and the
suspect walked toward the restroom.
The complainant stated he suddenly found the suspect standing next to
him behind the counter with his hand inside the pocket of his bright yellow
coat. The suspect verbally implied he
had a gun and ordered him to give him all the money. The cashier handed him what he had in his
hand and the suspect grabbed the rest from the cash drawer and some that was
on the counter. He then fled out the
door. He was last seen running north
across the front of the station. A
Troy Police K-9 Unit tracked the suspect to a driveway of a business just
west of the gas station where the track ended, apparently indicating the
suspect probably had a car waiting for him at that location. Suspicious

The pink end on the barrel had been removed. The car he had turned out to be stolen out
of Royal Oak. He was in possession of
several credit cards in other persons’ names.
Investigation revealed he was going through cars in Royal Oak when he
found the keys to the Jetta inside and stole it. He obtained the credit cards while going

responded to a call where the complainant reported her 13-year-old daughter
observed their 28-year-old male neighbor poke his head into the living room
window of their apartment the night before.
The window was open, but the screen was shut so would have had to have
been opened for the subject to look inside.
When officers spoke to him, he stated he “was doing something the
night before he shouldn’t have been doing, but due to having drunk so much
didn’t remember what he actually did.”

Checks: Elementary School representative
contacted the PD to report that a 5-year-old male student had not shown up
for school that morning, nor had he been called in sick by a parent. As a result, the school called the
residence to check on the status of the student. The 5-year-old answered the phone and
indicated he “was home alone.”
Officers and school representative went to the home and located the
child alone. The investigation
revealed the child’s mother was at work and left the child in the care of his
father/her husband when she left at 0530 hrs.
Officers tried to contact the father using the emergency contact
information provided by the school with negative results. The officers contacted his employer and a
company representative located him. He returned home immediately. He explained he had to leave for a “short
meeting” and had planned on coming right back home. He said the meeting was at 10:00 a.m. Officers’ contact with him occurred at
11:00 a.m. He claimed he never left
the child home alone in the past; however the investigation suggested that
may not be the case. The father was
advised the practice was not acceptable.
The child was turned over to his father and allowed to proceed to
school. Troy Youth Bureau and Child
