Officers responded on a report of an assault and battery.  Upon arrival, they were advised by several female members of a bridal party that when they pulled up, a group of four males began calling them “whores” and harassing them.  Apparently the groom was also confronted and eventually one of the group pushed him.   In the officers’ presence, Marriot Security advised the four subjects involved in the harassment that they had to leave the property and if they returned they would be charged with trespassing.  The 29-year-old from Macomb Twp., 25-year-old from Sterling Heights, 34-year-old from Harrison Twp., and 29-year-old from Sterling Heights were sent on their way.  When one of the officers went outside, the 29-year-old from Macomb began arguing with him.  The officer advised him that he was required to leave and if he didn’t would face arrest for trespassing.  The subject refused to leave and was advised he was under arrest.  The suspect began shouting obscenities while being taken into custody and remained uncooperative throughout the booking process.  He was charged with trespassing and disorderly conduct.

Robberies:

Fifth Third Bank Robbery                                                                                                                                    October 11, 2007

At approximately 10:15 a.m. Troy officers were summoned to the Fifth Third Bank branch located at 3754 Rochester Road on a report of an armed robbery.  The investigation revealed two black male suspects entered the bank, with one carrying a handgun and the other carrying a long gun.  They entered with their weapons fully displayed and announced a robbery.  They confronted the manager and ordered the vault opened.  They ordered persons inside the bank to the floor.  One suspect jumped over the counter and entered the vault filling what appeared to be a garbage bag with money, while the other suspect stood watch.  Both proceeded to exit the bank where they entered a red Jeep Cherokee that was left running in the lot near the door.  They exited the lot, turning east onto Bishop that leads into the nearby Raintree Subdivision.  While so-doing red dye exploded in the bag of money.  The suspects proceeded to dump the red dye stained money out of the car.  They abandoned the vehicle approximately a block away on Millay Street.  Responding officers recovered the dye covered money spread along Bishop Street.  There were significant red dye stains located inside the get away vehicle and on the grass where the vehicle came to rest.  A Troy Police K-9 Unit attempted a track with negative results.  It is believed the suspects either parked another car along Millay Street, which they entered and fled the area in after abandoning the Cherokee, or an accomplice or accomplices were waiting for them in a second vehicle on Millay Street at the point where they abandoned the Cherokee.  An awaiting or parked second car is consistent with the Police K-9 failing to locate a foot track leading away from that immediate area.  The Cherokee was stolen out of Detroit.  It is believed a significant amount of the money stolen in the robbery was recovered.  FBI agents who responded indicated this incident is consistent with a similar series of bank robberies that have occurred recently in southeast Michigan and northern Ohio.  The suspects target the bank vault rather than an individual teller window, arrive in a stolen vehicle, and dump the stolen car in the immediate vicinity after making their initial escape.  They were both dressed in white shirts, ties, khaki pants, baseball caps, and had bandanas pulled up over their faces.  No one was injured in today’s incident; no shots were fired.

Baker Middle School is located in the same subdivision where the Cherokee was abandoned.  Troy officers requested that school lock down during the initial investigation.  Troy School District personnel locked down three additional schools that are in the vicinity, although not the immediate area of the incident as an additional safety precaution.  Those were Wattles Elementary, Barnard Elementary, and Morse Elementary.  There was no evidence of any threat or danger in or around Baker School or that the suspects were headed that way, however given the nature of the incident, the lock down was requested by responding officers until it was determined that the suspects were no longer in the area.

It is believed that like the recovered money and get away car, the suspects were splashed with the bright colored red dye while attempting to make their get away. Both their clothing and skin may have been stained.   Anyone with any information that might assist in this investigation is asked to contact the Troy Police Department at 248-524-3477 or the Detroit Office of the FBI at 313-965-2323.  There is a $20,000.00 reward being offered for information leading to the identification and arrest of these suspects.
