Altercations/Disorderly Conduct:

Assaults:

Assist Other Department/Law Enforcement:

Auto/Vehicle Thefts:

Business Lot, 238 Executive, 9/8-9/10, 1600-1900 hrs.

’07 Cadillac Escalade parked in lot stolen.

Linen and Things Lot, 790 E. Big Beaver, 9/10, 0900-1315 hrs.

’02 Chrysler Sebring stolen from lot.

Breaking and Entries:

Dean Sellers, 2600 W. Maple, 9/9, 0000 hrs.

Officers observed a 23-year-old male from Troy out on foot in a semi-secure lot behind the closed business.  When asked what he was doing, he claimed to “be a part of the cleaning crew,” however there was no cleaning crew on site.  Officers discovered that a pane of glass had been removed from one of the over-head garage doors leading into the service area to afford access.  It appears the suspect accessed the lot by crawling under the fencing.  There was a footprint on the knocked out pane of glass that resembled the pattern on the shoes the subject was wearing.  The subject had approximately $36.00 of loose change in his possession.  It appears he was going through cars parked in the service garage and stealing loose change.  He was arrested.

Kevin, 9/9, 1400-2115 hrs.

Complainant found the screen cut on her side door to gain access to the lock and open it.  Access into the residence was not successful as the chain lock on the door behind the screen door held.

Crash Investigations:

14 Mile and I-75, 8/30, 0845 hrs.

Complainant stated he was driving W/B when he came to a stop and a green ’93 Plymouth Sundance crashed into him from behind.  The female driver of the Sundance backed up and struck the car behind her, and then fled westbound in the eastbound lanes of 14 Mile.  Her license plate was obtained.  Investigators responded to the 29-year-old female registered owner’s residence in Troy and could not locate her or her vehicle.  On 9/2 her vehicle was located by officers at her home.  Vehicle had damage to the front and rear bumpers consistent with the crash including paint transfer that matched the vehicles she struck.  She was interviewed and matched the description of the at-fault driver, but she “denied involvement in the crash.”  During a follow-up interview on 9/4, she “admitted being in the crash, but claimed the vehicle behind her actually struck her rather than her backing into it.”  She said when “she saw the driver approaching her on foot, she panicked and fled.  She was cited and released for “Careless Driving,” “Fail to Stop and ID at a Crash,” and “Fail to Stop in an Assured Clear Distance.”

Credit, Check, Identity Theft, and other Fraud:

Complainant reported several unauthorized withdrawals totaling $400.00 from his bank account that have been transferred to an on-line bill paying company with which complainant never opened an account with.  Complainant stated this initially occurred in July after which he closed the account in question.  He states he’s now being victimized again.

Doctor came to the station to report two ex-patients have tried to pass forged/counterfeit prescriptions over his signature at locations outside of Troy for Oxycontin.  Neither has ever been prescribed the drug by the complainant.

Complainant reported seven fraudulent purchases totaling approximately $1116.00 were made at various stores in Troy using his debit card account number.

Domestics/Family Troubles:

Troy Officers responded to three incidents involving family troubles/domestic disputes where investigations revealed no assaults or other crimes occurred, therefore no formal enforcement action was taken.

Drugs/Narcotics:

Maple and Dequindre, 9/2, 0141 hrs.

Officer observed the driver of a Mercury Marquis exit his car and approach a van that was parked on the opposite side of the lot of a gas station at 14 Mile and Dequindre.  It appeared he and the driver of the van passed something between one other.  The male returned to the Marquis, which quickly drove away at without pumping any gas.  As the officer followed the Mercury, the front seat passenger threw an object out of his window. The officer stopped the

Mercury.  The 24-year-old male driver from Royal Oak didn’t have his license.  He eventually turned over a baggie containing approximately 9 grams of marijuana from the center console of the vehicle.  He was arrested.  The object thrown out the window by the passenger turned out to be an envelope containing approximately 4.5 grams of marijuana.  The 24-year-old male front seat passenger from Sterling Heights was arrested.  He also had an outstanding warrant from another jurisdiction.  The 23-year-old male from Oak Park sitting in the rear seat was released at the scene with no charges.

Crime Prevention Tips

 General

If you witness a crime:

Ø      get involved

Ø      call the police

It is easier to catch a criminal if we are called right away, while they are still in the area.

Larceny

Ø      Always keep control of all your property.

Ø      Your belongings are not safe while you are playing sports or at work unless you have them properly locked or are in possession of them.

Ø      Thieves wait for the right time and will take property quickly.

Ø      Unfortunately you cannot always trust co-workers or other business associates.

Ø      Do not rely on others to watch your belongings.  If they fail, you will be the victim, not them.

Ø      Be cautious of who you allow into your home. If you invite guests that you really do not know into your home you are inviting trouble.
