Block of Robinwood, 5/9, 0419 hrs. Officers
responded to a report that a black Dodge Stratus smashed into a tree and the
four occupants exited and fled the scene. Upon arrival, the
vehicle was still running, the airbags had deployed and the interior smelled
of intoxicants. Officers recovered a
cell phone from inside that eventually rang.
A female was calling claiming to be the registered owner. She stated she “allowed a 23-year-old male
from Troy to drive her car home.” She
stated she “just received word her he crashed it.” Other responding officers located three of
the occupants on Livernois. They were
a 24-year-old female, and two 22-year-old males all from Troy. They gave conflicting accounts of the incident,
including denials they were involved, as well as claiming no knowledge of who
was driving. Information was
eventually ferreted out indicating the 23-year-old from Troy that called the
vehicle’s owner was the driver. He was
described as “very drunk” when he crashed the car into the tree. He was not located at the time of the
incident. The 24-year-old female was
found in possession of a baggie of marijuana and a marijuana pipe for which
she was arrested. Investigation

by the IRS about a refund and requested he fill in the information, including

amount of $235.78. Complainant stated
she did not open the account and someone used her personal information to
fraudulently do so. A 47-year-old
male complainant from Troy reported receiving a telephone call from someone
asking for a donation to the Detroit Police Department. Complainant agreed and a subject arrived at
his home where complainant wrote a check for $25.00. When he visited his bank, he discovered the
check was tampered with and cashed for $484.00. Suspect:

it from what she thought she was agreeing to.
Total short: $76.75. Complainant

65-year-old female complainant from Troy reported hiring an individual to
re-brick her chimney. She gave him a
deposit check for $650.00 to order the brick.
When he departed without leaving her his contact information or a copy
of the contract/estimate, she became suspicious and placed a stop payment on
the check. She later discovered he
succeeded in cashing it at a party store in Warren. No funds were withdrawn from her account
and the check was returned to the store due to the stop payment. Collection agency working on behalf of the
store asked her to document the incident with a police report. Domestics/Family Troubles: Troy Officers responded to five
incidents involving family troubles/domestic disputes where investigation
revealed no assaults or other crimes occurred, therefore no formal

guidelines. Complainant believes
subject has somehow fraudulently obtained Rx pads from the varying issuing
doctors, and/or fraudulently obtained their DEA numbers. Complainant reported other area pharmacies
have noticed the suspicious number of transactions and have begun declining
the subject’s scripts. The subject
told officers she has severe back pain and the Rx’s are legitimate. She was
released pending further investigation. Drunk/Intoxicated

A Ford Focus was backed up near the fire with its hatch up and music
playing loudly. A 16-year-old male was
contacted in the home who indicated he had a 17-year-old brother, but
apparently he wasn’t available. The
16-year-old contacted his mother via cell phone and officers spoke to
her. They requested she come home to
deal with the situation. She stated
she was in downtown Detroit and could be home in 45 minutes. She did not arrive while officers were on
scene and did not return additional calls.
Officers were able to extinguish the fire. They contacted the parents that were the
registered owners of the cars left behind and advised them of the
situation. Most indicated their
sons/daughters had the cars in question. Marengo, 5/14, 0033 hrs. Officers responded to a vacant house
on a report of noise, teens on the roof and that a black Nissan Frontier had
stopped by with several teens entering the house. Responding officers located the Nissan on
Norton near South Boulevard and stopped it.
The 46-year-old female driver from Troy stated she “had her two sons
in the car with her.” Her 19-year-old
son was in the front seat, smelled strongly of intoxicants, had slurred
speech, and staggered when he walked.
He denied drinking and refused to take a PBT (Preliminary Breath Test). He was issued a citation for MIP (Minor in
Possession) and released to his mother.
His 17-year-old brother was in back.
He stated they “were at the house in question where several teens were
drinking, and that several were out on the roof.” He was not drinking, took and passed a
PBT. He was also released. Officers at the house that was supposed to
be vacant heard voices coming from inside, however no one responded to their
knocks. A window was found ajar. A search using a police K-9 unit was
conducted. A 20-year-old male from Troy came down from a second floor area
claiming “his mother gave him the house and no one else was there.” As the search continued an 18-year-old male
from Troy fell from the attic hole onto the floor below. Officers located empty glasses, a half
empty ½ gallon bottle of Vodka and orange juice in the house. Both subjects were drunk. The homeowner was contacted and confirmed
no one was supposed to be inside the house.
The 20-year-old refused to take a PBT.
He was cited for MIP and “Providing a Location for Illegal Purposes.” Officers transported him home and while attempting
to get him out of the patrol car and into his house, he began screaming
obscenities at officers. He was
arrested and using profanities in public was added to his charges. He blew 0.12 on a PBT in the jail. The 18-year-old blew 0.09 on a PBT. He was cited for MIP and driven home. Neighbor

Mile, 5/13, 1725 hrs. LPO’s observed two subjects in the
store. A subject later identified as a
53-year-old female from Dearborn Heights placed a knife set, quilt, and sheet
set into the shopping cart being pushed by the second subject later
identified as her 85-year-old mother from Birmingham. The 53-year-old
concealed the quilt and sheet set in a JC Penney shopping bag. She placed the bag back in the cart, on top
of the knife set. With her mother
pushing the cart, she exited the store without making any attempt to pay for
the concealed merchandise. LPO’s
stopped them outside. Officers
arrested the 53-year-old. They drove
the 85-year-old home after she explained she had no idea what her daughter
was doing and outlined several medical conditions. Total value stolen/recovered: $229.00. Robberies: Suspicious Incidents: Northampton, 5/9, 0015 hrs. Dog sitter reported hearing the
sound of the front storm door being opened.
She stated the dog began barking at which point she heard the storm
door close. Officers arrived and found
nothing suspicious/no sign of forced entry attempt. Collington and Chesapeake, 5/11,
0210 hrs. An officer on patrol located a
suspicious male wearing a black hoodie and blue jeans out on foot that fled
when the officer came into view. Other
responding officers located a black Jeep Commander pulled off of Northfield
Parkway onto the grassy area on the north side of Troy High about ½ mile from
where the fleeing subject was last seen.
As officers approached, a male matching the description of the
original suspect took off running from the Jeep carrying a shovel. The 16-year-old male driver from Troy
stated his “18-year-old male passenger from Troy and the 18-year-old male
from Troy that ran, called him to give them a ride home.” He was found in violation of his graduated
license which permitted him to drive between 0500 and midnight. He was transported to the station, cited
for the license violation, and turned over to his father. The shovel was recovered near the
Jeep. A police k-9 Unit arrived and
began a track for the subject that fled.
There was some indication from the 18-year-old passenger still on the
scene, that he and the subject that fled were engaged in some sort of senior
prank. The 18-year-old blew 0.10 on a
PBT (Preliminary Breath Test), was cited for MIP (Minor in Possession) and
was driven home and turned over to his parents. Officers went to the missing 18-year-old’s
house and briefed his mother on the situation. He later called officers from his home, and
officers went there to speak with him.
He provided no further explanation other than he “got scared when he
saw the officers so he ran.” He was
cited and released for “Hindering and Obstructing Police.” Industrial Sub, Elliot and
Minnesota, 5/13, 0300 hrs. Officer observed a brown ’88 GMC Vandura
¾ ton window van cruising through the closed business lots with its lights
out. On at least one occasion it
stopped behind a building and an occupant got out and climbed into a fenced
storage area. The van eventually left
the area and was stopped. The driver
was a 33-year-old male from Shelby and the passenger was a 32-year-old male
from Mt. Clemens. No contraband/stolen
items were recovered from the van. No signs
of forced entry at the buildings the vehicle was stopped behind or the
building the subject were out on foot around.
Indications were the pair were scrapping. Traffic
