Where is the Records Section located?
500 West Big Beaver Road, between Livernois and I-75. Turn into the Civic Center Campus on Civic Center Drive. Follow Civic Center Drive north, and turn left at the four-way stop sign. Turn left again at the second driveway, marked by the Police Department sign, and follow the drive past the 52-4 District Court to the parking court at the front doors of the station. The Records Section is on the second floor.

What is the cost of an accident report?
Accident UD10 Crash report fee is $5.25* when purchased in person at the Troy Police Department Records Section during normal business hours.
For your convenience and as a service to the public and to insurance companies, we have an agreement with Tracview to provide Accident UD10 Crash Reports via the Internet for a higher fee, which is set by Tracview. The fees is currently $15.00 for a standard 1 or 2 vehicle report, but prices vary by the size of the report.
All other report fees are calculated by time spent and number of pages under the guidelines of Freedom of Information Fees.* Payment may be made by cash or check. Credit cards are not yet accepted.

Is a fingerprinting service available?
Fingerprinting is done on a computerized Livescan system which generates a Fingerprint Card. No ink prints. Fingerprinting hours are 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The fee is $11.00*.
Proper identification and proof of residency and/or business location required, as this service is limited to residents and businesses within the Troy city limits.

Does the Records Section accept applications for pistol permits?
Residents of the City of Troy who are 18 years of age or older may apply for a Permit to Purchase a Pistol. Proper identification (a valid driver license) is required. At the time of application, a 15 question true and false State of Michigan Gun test is administered. A pamphlet with the necessary information is available and may be reviewed prior to taking the test. Most applicants are cleared within five business days and are notified by mail. The Purchase Permit issued is valid for ten days.

Where are pistols inspected and registered?
Once a weapon has been purchased with a valid permit from the City of Troy Records Section, two portions of the permit (the seller keeps a portion of the three-part form) and the weapon must be brought back to the Records Section for inspection and registration. The weapon will be registered on the Automated Pistol Registration System, sending the information to the State in Lansing electronically. A registration card will be issued to the owner. To allow enough time, please arrive no later than 3:30 p.m. to register a weapon.

Does the Records Section accept applications for Concealed Weapon Permits?
No. This application is made at the Oakland County Clerk's Office at 1200 North Telegraph Road in Pontiac. As a courtesy to the citizens of the City of Troy, an application packet for this permit is available at the Records Section public counter.
